Happy Valentine’s Day!

How did your day go?

The hubs and I spent it at home.  Yes, it was just another day at work for us and school day for the little one but we went home early and spent more time together.  The little one gave us a card they did at school while the hubs gave me this:

The people at work wore something red but I didn’t and wore my usual blackoffice suit.  I didn’t even think of wearing any red accessory.  My boss noticed this and I realized, maybe I should have worn something to commemorate the event?

For those in the same situation, here are a few things available in my shop:

24k vermeil filigree ear studs, handmade discs, Swarovski crystals

Austrian crystals, red coral, 14k gold

Garnet ear studs, carnelian, 14k gold

Red coral beads, handmade 14k gold discs

Carnelian, orange jade, 14k gold

red turquoise, 14k gold

Rubellite, red tuquoise, 14k gold

Red coral, sterling silver

Red turquoise, garnets, sterling silver

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!!!

Trellis

The request:  A pair of dangler earrings in the shape of a leaf using garnet gemstones.

The dilemma: None.

The process:  The client wanted a pair of garnet earrings.  I suggested that we add more than just garnet because this gemstone has a rich wine red color.

Combining it with other gemstones in the same color family will give the piece life and vibrance.  So I scoured my suppliers to see what they had and I found these:

Gorgeous gorgeous Tundra sapphires in red-orange, orange, and olive!

With this project, I needed to take my time.  Remember, I do not sketch.  I knew that I could only work on it during my good creative mood (read: when I feel like it inspired) to achieve the best results.

Fast-forward to 1.4 months, this is how it came out:

As you can see I’ve attached it to peridot cubic zirconia in 14k gold bezel set ear studs.

All other gold is 14k rolled yellow gold.

If you’d like to own something as intricate as this, do leave a message in the comments below or send me a message at my shop.

The Things I Do for the Things I Love to Do

Stayed up ’til 4am this morning.  If the husband did not convince (read: force) me to go to bed, I’d be probably wake up until now.

Nevertheless, I surprisingly woke up after 5 hours without feeling any grogginess and finally completed the new set of orders 🙂

Here they are for your viewing pleasure:

WordPress Theme Crisis

For those of you who are frequent readers here, you will notice the various  constant changes in my WordPress Theme….

The truth is, WordPress has a lot of nice themes to choose from and I have been enamored by all of them.  I have tried dark backgrounds thinking that it will help make the colors of my accessories and jewelry pop out.  Wrong.  First, my widgets were nowhere in sight and it was sooo dark! It turned out to be very heavy and too strong to the overall look of what the brand is all about.

So today, I braved the themes section and chose a more, light and airy theme.  I am not a techie kind of girl but when my widgets disappeared with my former theme, they somehow magically appeared!

I think I will stick to this theme from now on.  It is minimalism perfected!

It does not look complicated.

And most importantly, my photos seem to shine more.

That’s what’s important right? 🙂

So head on here to check out what I have in store 😉

A Very Productive Weekend

My sister needed a gift for her boyfriend’s sister.  She requested me to make something for her.  I was not satisfied with just one, instead, I made these new earring pieces now available at my store:

Cinderella Sparkle earrings

Midnight Tears

Fire Tree

As you all are aware of by now, gold prices have gone up.  The price for these items are based on the old gold prices (read: very affordable).  When my stock runs up, I have no choice but to increase the price of my new items as well.

So what are you waiting for? 🙂

Some Custom Orders

One thing I like about custom orders is the liberality and the extent of creativeness I can do with a piece 🙂

Here are a few requests I have recently made:

If you’d like me to create something magical for you too, do let me know 🙂

Bordeaux

The latest object of attention of Neiman Marcus‘ Senior Accessories Editor,  Roopal Patel are fabulous bordeaux items.

I have always loved this color.  Most of the time, however, I’d forget its name and would just describe it as dark red or the color of wine.  I think it’s a safe bet if you want to wear something within the family of the color red but are not daring enough to do so or if it does not fit your skin complexion.

Upon browsing through all of Ms. Patel’s bordeaux choices, I can’t help but realize that the color can and does resemble that of garnet!  Garnet has a deep dark red color which is sometimes difficult to photograph.  I have spent hours trying to get the right hues of the color come out.  Most of the time, I’d wait for different times of the day just to get that perfect shot.

I am not a professional photographer but I do know how to balance light or ISO settings.  Most of the time I will use macro shots.  But thanks to my trusty Canon G10, which was a gift from my dad, I was able to capture these wonderful shots of garnet:

The necklace in the first photo is available here.

The one in the second photo was a custom request for a garnet necklace and earring set, garnet being her birth month.

What JJ Used Today

.…my own champagne South Sea shell pearl nest setting earrings.  I was finishing orders this weekend and loved the combination of the light golden peach color of my new set of pearls that I finally made one for myself! 🙂

The soft golden glow of the South Sea shell pearl and the stark contrast of the nest setting gives this piece an elegant and contemporary feel.  The size (10mm) is just right for the setting and the style of the ear nut backing are perfect for its size.

Hmmm. Not quite clear yet.

How about this one:

Love it?

Order now 🙂

Oh! And I wore my Everyday South Sea shell pearl necklace.  Not too matchy-matchy but just right.
