Waiting For Supplies to Arrive

After seeing the Trellis earrings, a client was curious about the stones composing the piece. After sending her photos of the Tundra sapphires and beautiful faceted Mozambique garnets, she instantly requested for 2 necklaces that will contain these two.  I have worked on the design in my head and decided on how it will look like.  Future updates on that soon.

I’ve just finished a huge order of baroque freshwater pearl earrings for a wonderful client who plans to give them as gifts to their lady guests.

I am also working on another tassle earring project after a client saw the Mughal Princess earrings.  I will be using her birthstones and those of her two daughters.  Another challenging work ahead for this piece and I love it!

Other than those, I have 2 orders for my Floral Retreat neckpieces, a citrine set, South Sea shell pearl necklace, a pair of Nest earrings.  The supplies have not arrived yet.

Phew! Reading back through this post, please excuse me for being in and out of blog posting for a while.  Although I will do my best to drop in every day, I don’t think I will be able to post long.

In the meantime, why not browse through my shop cause there might be something you might like 🙂

Floral Retreat Limited Edition Necklace

When my mom was sick, I busied myself making lots of beautiful things I knew mom would like.  She loved seeing me work and loved it even more seeing the finished product.  It was good that I received lots of Christmas orders.  During this time, I also experimented on other designs and decided to make them part of a new collection.

This past weekend, while working on some more of these, an intricately surprising idea came to my head and I made this:

I used 5 of my floral charms and added them to a chain adorned with Austrian crystals.

I’ve decided to make it a bespoke piece and can only be ordered in my shop.

January 2012 Collection

I know this is late but do let me share with you the collection I prepared for January 2012:

Trio Burst

The request:  Make a jewelry set that will match the dress of a client’s wife

The dilemma: It has to be done in 2 weeks.

The solution: I asked the client to send me a photo of the wife’s dress.  I received the email 5 days later.

The dress had hints of red-orange.  It had a satin sheen that displayed darker colors under different lights and under shadows.

I was at lost with what necklace design I could make.

I had to make the necklace stand out against the dark and light effect of the dress but without making a distraction.  I wanted to make it blend but not really. I wanted to craft it in a way that the client’s wife will be able to use it on formal occasions, during casual days, and even at the office.  That’s the ClassicSparklers’ trademark: versatility in all aspects.

The dress’ neckline grabbed my attention and I knew I had to start with that.

Also, the client’s wife wanted me to use the garnet gemstone.  I made a rundown in my head if I had enough available in stock. The garnets that I had have a dark, wine red color.  With my 14k gold, they will stand out, yes, but they will look too drab plain.  I had to add something else.

After considering all these, I was finally able to create another beauty:

I used garnet, carnelian and rubellite, thus calling it “Trio Burst”.  They gave good contrast to the garnet while at the same time adding texture because of their difference in size.

Also, I used pyrite for that usual sparkle!

But this would not be a ClassicSparklers piece if it were to be used ONLY for this occasion, right? So I gave it the ability to turn into these other options:

Notice something missing compared to the first photo?

It’s this pendant:

I made this part detachable so that the client’s wife can use it separately with a nice gold chain or a satin ribbon.

But I did not stop there 🙂

Tangerine Tango: Official Color for 2012

I’m Back. But Not Really

It’s been more than a month since my last post.

I had to go through a personal crisis that, up to this day, keeps me away.  You see, my mom passed away in December.  Coping with the grief of losing her is very heartbreaking even up to now.  I am slowly carving my path back to normal-ness.

Please bear with me.  I will be back real soon with lots of new projects, mostly customized work that I did while I was away.

Mughal Princess

The request: re-work the  client’s freshwater pearl earring and pendant.  Use sterling silver.

The dilemma: how?

The solution:

Make my mark with the J.Pedreria Collection’s signature nest setting.  Add a little sparkle with a diamond cubic zirconia ear stud in bezel setting.  It came out like this:

Looks nice.  Sparkly.  Elegant. Classic.

But remember, ClassicSparklers is all about versatility and creativity.  Stopping here cannot and does not put those two principles into place.

How about if we add some tassels?

Wow.  The execution is perfect and the earrings become ostentatiously beautiful and glamorous!

But you can’t and do not use this kind of earring to the work place right? I do not think this will go well with a suit.

So let’s make it more versatile: MAKE THE TASSELS DETACHABLE!!

What about the pendant?

I decided to just add the nest setting.

When you have an ornate earring, the necklace should be very simple. Amp it up but do not create a confusion between your neckline and/or your ears/head.

Besides, you can remove both tassels of each earring and add them to the pendant, and VIOLA!

I must admit that this was a very very very very challenging piece.

For the tassels I used beautiful Israelicut white topaz from India, silver pyrite also from India and Swarovski crystals.  I also made a nice bead cap.  All other components are sterling silver.

I plan to make more pieces like this in the future.

If you want to have one customized for you (something to wear for the holidays perhaps? *wink*), leave a comment or send me a message here.

Happy Halloween!

A day won’t pass without me greeting everyone a Happy Halloween!

We had a blast! Hope you did too 🙂
