Spheres

The request:  Full nest setting.  Round. Clear center.

The dilemma: Full nest setting is hard to do because of the shape especially if there’s nothing inside it.  It had to be a perfect circle.

The result:

That is the reason why I love collaborating with clients.  The exchange of ideas give me a certain high.  Its the interchange of thoughts in the design process that keeps me energized and inspired.

Weddings

The request: 8 silver-filled engraved filigree heart lockets customized with freshwater pearls and birthstone Austrian crystals for the bridesmaids.

ClassicSparklers first started with weddings and 3 years after that, we are still at it!

Weddings are special occasions that are meant to last forever, because yes, I believe that love lasts a lifetime! The sentimental in me is showing.  Sorry for that.  But nevertheless, everyone wants to remember their wedding forever.  So why not make every little thing memorable with little keepsakes the entourage can use during the wedding AND after the wedding 😀

14k gold jewelry, you say? It’s your way of saying “thank you”.

Carollyn will be getting married this May and a month ago she contacted me to create these beauties for her 8 bridesmaids.  They’re now all ready to go!  I do hope they’ll like it.

Wedding requests such as this instantly come with their own gift boxes and wedding tag so all you brides got to do is hand them over to your lovely bridesmaids!

I welcome any inquiries at thedesigner@classicsparklers.com or leave a message in Facebook.

I look forward to helping you make your wedding the best and most memorable moment in your life.

UPDATE (May 9, 2012):

A message from Carol:

Circles

The request: versatile earrings with 4 gemstones.  Use the endless hoop earrings similar to the Bohemian Embellishment earrings.

The process:  I went through all the gemstone briolettes I had to present to the client.  Making this involved approximately 4 meetings with constant revisions mostly to check and verify which stone colors suited each other.

The materials:  The client finally decided on ruby, sapphire, opalite, and rose quartz.

The result:

All 14k rolled yellow gold.

Great value for your money considering that this piece can be used to suit any occasion ………  and most importantly any outfit!

The South Sea Shell Pearl Necklace

South Sea Shell Pearls are simulated pearls made to look like South Sea Pearls. They are man-made in a laboratory from South Sea oyster shells – the same mollusks expensive South Sea pearls originate from. They look and feel similar to South Sea Pearls, and are popular because of their affordability. South Sea Shell Pearls are more smooth and don’t have the gritty texture that South Sea pearls do. This is because they are created in a lab, which is cleaner than a lake or ocean. The Island of Mallorca is well known for its imitation pearl production.

The history of creating imitation pearls goes back to ancient time – to about 1300 A.D. when the French used them for adorning luxurious clothing and accessories. One production method saw a combination of white powdered glass mixed with egg white and snail slime (yes, snail slime) to produce the imitation pearls. They dipped hollow glass beads into an acid in order to produce iridescence, and then filled the bead for solidity and weight.

Today, the process to create South Sea Shell Pearls can vary but generally follows the same process as the natural pearl with man controlling the production. The usual process to create South Sea Shell Pearls begins with pulverizing shells into a mix, which is then combined with a binder and formed into a perfectly shaped bead of any size. Dye technology then produces the color on shell-based pearls to almost any hue imaginable. The final step is to dip or spray on the pearlized coating, which is oftentimes either ground fish scales or pearl powder.

In today’s marketplace, the use of imitation-South Sea Shell Pearls continues to gain popularity with jewelry designers, as many consumers simply cannot afford the luxury of the real gems. For instance, a 12mm southsea shell pearl necklace at 22in long in completely round shape only costs less than $45.

As with metal finishes, the beauty and the luster of imitation pearls and their price depend on the thickness of the coating and the type of coating used. The thicker the coating, the more expensive they will be, though they will actually wear better and last longer. Therefore the quality is still very important, and it can vary from one manufacturer to another. For all of the southsea shell pearls from orientalpearls.net, it all comes with unconditional manufacturer warranty.

South Sea Shell pearls are easier to care for than natural pearls – they are much less affected by perspiration, perfume and detergents, and have a more durable shine and color. However, long periods of exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided, because the protein in pearl shell beads will become yellow under sunlight. source

The Classic Pearl Necklace

You can never go wrong with a pearl necklace.  This lovely doctor wanted a gold pearl necklace.  That’s all she asked.

Since the client loved the South Sea shell pearl necklace I was wearing that day we met, I used the same pearls but in size 14mm and in the color gold!  I added my handmade 14k gold discs and adorned its center with natural gold pyrite.

I’ve got more of these South Sea shell pearls in store waiting for another gorgeous bespoke order.  The colors available are baby pink, turquoise, white (all in 16mm) and white, gold and turquoise in 12mm.

Another Long Project

When I say “long”, its because the client wants a long necklace filled with my floral gemstone pendants and gold discs.  The materials and stones have arrived and thus, I am about to proceed!

Busy Bee

Sorry for the delay in posts.  There were not much items to make because bespoke orders just came piling up.  Bespoke orders take a while…about a month to two to make.  Not only because I particularly add more attention to detail here but because the materials the clients request are per order basis only.

Nevertheless, while waiting for them to arrive, I was able to squeeze in some for the store:

Pearl Moonstone Floral Pendant

Lemon Quartz Peridot and Freshwater Pearl earrings

Light Blue Topaz and golden rutile quartz earrings

All three are now available in my shop so check them out!
